Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions. If something’s missing, write to us – we’re happy to help.
Getting started
What do I need from my provider?
Either a server address, username and password (Xtream) or a link to the channel list (M3U). Your TV provider sends you either one, usually by email or chat. visiv itself doesn’t include any channels.
How do I add my source?
On first start, choose “Add source” and enter the details from your provider. It’s more convenient with “Enter on your phone”: scan the QR code, type the details on your phone and send them. Your phone and device need to be on the same Wi-Fi for this.
Why don’t I see any movies and series?
Movies and series are only available with logins that use a username and password. A link to the channel list (M3U) only provides channels. If your link contains “username=” and “password=”, set it up as a login with username and password.
Why is the guide missing for some channels?
Your provider supplies the TV guide. If it’s missing for a channel, the provider doesn’t have one for it or the names don’t match. Under Settings › Sources › Name and TV guide, you can add an extra link to a TV guide (XMLTV).
Playback
A channel isn’t playing – what can I do?
visiv then checks by itself what’s wrong – your internet, the provider, the channel or your subscription with your provider – and tells you what you can do. You’ll find the channels that recently didn’t play under Settings › Help.
What does “1 connection” mean?
That’s how many streams your subscription with your provider allows at the same time. With 1 connection, you can watch, record or download – but not two things at once. You can see how many you have under Settings › Sources.
How do I get a sharper picture?
On Windows with Intel (Arc) or NVIDIA (RTX) graphics, visiv uses AI to sharpen blurry channels and movies up to 720p in large view. The “Enhance automatically” switch in the player under Picture & sound is on by default. If the picture stutters, the AI switches itself off.
Recordings and downloads
Do recordings run even when visiv is closed?
Yes, on Windows. visiv records by itself, not your provider. If you close visiv with recordings scheduled, it keeps working in the background (icon at the bottom right next to the clock) and then quits by itself. If the PC is off, nothing can be recorded.
Where do I find my recordings and downloads?
As files in your user folder under “Videos › visiv”. In visiv, you’ll find them in the sidebar under “Recordings”, or under “Downloads” in movies and series.
Why does a recording or download fail?
Usually your subscription with your provider doesn’t allow that many connections at the same time – watching and recording need two. If a recording is running and your subscription only allows 1 connection, the recording takes priority.
Subscription, devices and account
How long can I try it?
7 days with every feature – with a free visiv account and no payment details. The free trial is available once per device and per email address. After that, nothing turns into a subscription automatically: playback pauses, and your sources, favourites, settings and recordings stay.
How do I buy and cancel a subscription?
You buy it in the Microsoft Store. That’s also where you cancel, at any time for the end of the term: in your Microsoft account under “Services & subscriptions” (account.microsoft.com/services). There’s no direct switch between monthly and yearly: you cancel and take out the other subscription once the current one ends.
On how many devices can I use visiv?
With your visiv account, on up to 5 devices. You sign in with a code we send to your email address. For a sixth device, you first remove another one in the app – at most 3 times in 30 days. How many streams can run at once is up to your provider.
How do I move my sources to another device?
Under Settings › Devices & backup: transfer directly over Wi-Fi or save a backup as a file. Sources, favourites, profiles and settings come along.
Family and parental control
How do I lock folders for kids?
In a folder’s menu, choose “Lock with parental control”. Locked folders only open with the 4-digit PIN; in the kids profile, they’re completely hidden. What nobody needs, you can also hide without a PIN.
How secure is parental control?
It protects against accidental clicks, not against kids with full access to the device. On Windows, it’s best to set up a separate standard user account for the kids. After several wrong PINs, visiv waits a while before you can try again.
